Miniaturizing the Mobile Pro Audio Setup: Offload the Hardware Signal Processing Chain to Accessory Devices. (iOS, iPadOS, Android).

 Pro audio buffs, of generations past, had gone through various golden ages of outboard gear in |post| production studios and on-site recording and performance settings.

With the advent of multi-core computer processing, which saw a boom in multimedia production studios in the popular consumer electronics setting in the early 2000's with Apple's PowerPC dual and quad-core processors in their G5 PowerMac line, made by IBM. I had one of their quad core G5 systems near the time that they were first released, and at that time, it was a significant workhorse. I was in school, at UC Riverside, for Music, as my bachelor's of arts degree, for course work, and I did some hip hop production and mixing on the side, with my tower as my significant main device; I had an AKG large diaphragm condenser microphone hooked up through a MOTU audio interface, and I ran many sessions, and composed many tracks, through that set up.

With the advent of multi-core processing, software companies began virtualizing the former generation's hardware platform offerings, by creating virtual instruments and software plugins that ported the analog or digital rack mount units, synthesizers, and outboard processing gear of former ages of audio production and post-production. Back then, the challenge was wiring everything efficiently and the significant costs involved in procuring pro audio gear. Studio owners and music producers were an iconic role model for many of us, who aspired to work in audio. Studio time commanded significant professional rates, and many of the older music professionals etched out a living for themselves out in the Hills, and the Valley, as old lore of their lifestyles was discovered, while I worked as a craigslist software installation specialist, from around 2006-2012.

Consequentially, with the advent of the consumer-level multimedia | pro audio workstations, many of us, as youths, bought in to the lifestyle, as startup CEOs of small means post-production, live recording, artist management, and marketing | publicity business operations during that time, and a significant push to establish software tools that emulated the hardware options of the big studios on prosumer devices, such as the MacBook Pro, Mac Pro, and iMac devices became the heralding legacy that was established during the late 2000's decade. 

Towards the end of that decade, and in to the 2010's, the economy went bust, and people began to rely upon available software options that had already been produced and manufactured, while eschewing purchasing new hardware, or they began to buy in to the new mobile smartphone device ecology, as the iPhone had picked up speed and reputation as the hot new thing to own. Back in the early 2000's, electronic music and hip hop were gaining ground as the significant cultural movement in young adult popular culture. Come 2012, people had become burnt out on life, and the surveillance state had taken it's authoritative role over many people's minds, as this was the fates time, in the psychiatric profession's DSM-IV | V, for the onset of schizophrenia in certain subtypes of people, having hit age 30. 

Many people were scrambling for answers about the Illuminati, while suspicious of the wealthy, whereas, I suppose, many other young professionals had made out in life with suitable live-work circumstances, while the former decades' "living it up" demographic faded in to a downward spiral set of circumstances. Hardware marketplaces for consumer laptop and desktop systems, such as craigslist, became a cut-throat grounds in competitiveness, whereas craigslist had been a solid and dependable niche market to fulfill, for some, such as myself. People expected to procure their device needs, whether it was software or hardware, at significantly competitive rates, and news stories of shocking violence and shady encounters marred the craigslist brand for many people. Keep in mind that I worked in Los Angeles, which had the legacies of the entertainment industry and Hollywood as the bread and butter economy, for many various sorts of young and established professionals, alike. 

Around that time (2012) I somewhat fell out of the whole online and local marketplace scene, as schizophrenia took hold of me, and I went through several years of couch-surfing, shacking up with some of my former good craigslist relations, and subsequently, as all options for commerce became slimmer and slimmer, I ended up losing my Audi A4, and I was incarcerated for Grand Theft Auto for keeping a rental car for too long. It was a gradual, but sure descent, in to detriments and misfortunes, as I knew of no other options which would sustain me through financial hardships. 

Here and there, after being released from jail and hospitals, several times over, I procured some new devices on store credit, as lease options, with phone and data plans. I wasn't much in to the hacking scene, as I had gotten much of that spirit and impetus out of me during my years at University, so I didn't get in to jailbreaking my devices, much, at all. It turned out to be a fortunate timing, for me, as I came to discover the App Store, with its many offerings of third party software apps, for my |temporary| enjoyment of my time with my iPhone 7 Plus and my iPad Pro (2017). Unfortunately, I became a victim of homelessness and a target of stalking, while homeless, and I lost my devices, due to casual mishaps and foolish slight decisions made while nearing exhaustion, for the sake of producing intelligence on the topic of coming to understand my mental health circumstances, and in resurging my interests in pro audio and multimedia app mastery, while I had battery charges on my devices. 

Come 2020, and I had still yet had become a victim of homelessness and stalker-targeting, as a newly device-imbued homeless person. Yet, the COVID-19 Pandemic had struck, and over time, during the summer, I had finally procured another stable home environment to live in, thanks to my social services and mental health care providers. The Employment Development Department's offerings of unemployment insurance, for those affected by the pandemic, became a topic of notice and of pursuit, for me, as I eventually entered my claimant status as unemployed, and I came to receive unemployment insurance, in the midsummer of 2020. It was a significant boon, for me, as I was capable of receiving back pay, from the beginning of the onset of the pandemic, in March, whereas Pandemic Unemployment Award benefits, of an additional $600 per week, were being offered to constituent beneficiaries of unemployment insurance. Many people shun the president, for perceived slights and blunders, but all in all, I see President Trump as a capable leader, quite obviously, who lead the nation, as best as could be capably done, through what has ended up being a significant debacle, of a global scale, while maintaining a significant presence in our daily lives and collective mind, in America, as a regularly "social" leader, on the Twitter platform (which I prefer, as well, as my standard public relations outlet). He was the one who lead us in to receiving these benefits, which, at this point in time (January 2021), have amounted to over $17,000 for me, which I'd detailed, richly, as far as spendings and procurements, over the months, here, on iPigeon.institute Blog, Facebook, and Twitter. 

All things being said and continuing forth, as far as unemployment benefits are concerned, it was a significant boon for me, given that I had limited expenses, as my food and rent were largely taken care of for me, while I was receiving unemployment benefits. It was a significant time of plenty and good fortune, which seems to be coming to a head, as I'm somewhat faced with a fork in the road, as far as that I'm currently seeking to become employed, as an exit strategy and best-practices risk aversion from being the last one being handled benefits, with no foreseeable alternatives, as unemployment insurance claim money and time span allotments of claim status may run out on us. 

That being said, I've come to richly re-discover the establishments and gains in tech, both in terms of software and hardware, given my new devices: a MacBook Air 2020, an iPad Pro 11 inch (2020), and a Google Pixel 4a 5G, as my smartphone device. Having discovered Amazon, as a consumer electronics purchaser for a Google Blogger Content Publisher on Google Marketing Platform, as my enterprise establishment basis for iPigeon.institute, and my various other alternate concept blogs that I'd come up with, since I started out on Blogger, $17,000+ had come a long way for me, as well as that I'd significantly paid in to California state payroll taxes, and polished out my business establishment formalities, in becoming "official." 

I'd come to consider that the miniaturization of our devices, within the realm of multimedia and third party app offerings, is somewhat akin to being a development echelon, of sorts, in that we had put up our big tech corporate iconic establishments on a pedestal, whereas miniaturization of devices comes at a cost - on one hand, a device antenna is somewhat implicated, in a smartphone, or a tablet, (even in a computer, many times), as a chipset, with a coupling cable that connects it to the main board, whereas it's powered by the electronics current supply of voltage necessary to power it. On one hand, it works, largely. On the other hand, it's a tiny device, with scarcely a common notion of an actual "antenna" about it. 

In researching and purchasing through my current pro audio (miniature, yet third party devices) set up, I'd |re-|discovered some things, leaning towards an appreciation of "bigger is better," which I'd happened upon, in the facet aspect of having purchased some bluetooth and wired lavalier microphones, of varying quality, whereas the larger and more costly device features ostensibly larger onboard components, given the comparison product of our earphones' small, rectangular volume and command inline microphone attachment, which most of us can relate to, as a much-miniaturized set of a few hardware devices and features, of our signal chains, in audio and communications. Not that we're upset with the quality of things; it's just that pro audio aspirations seek higher and better status, in quality of the audio representative form. 

Take Apple's eGPU product offerings, on the Apple official online store, for example (since we're still largely locked out of freely browsing Apple retail stores, at leisure). In these products, Apple offers a comparatively large plug-in hardware device, which offloads the main device's graphics computational processes to a larger scale and form external device. On one hand, the GPU components of our laptop computers skirt upon comparable specifications, yet not so, just quite, in the lower-end devices. In pro multimedia gear, such as in high end microphones, the echelons of greater performance become a bell curve, of product capabilities in finery, at the higher end of cost, come a certain point in the cost of devices. That is, once a device peaks past the couple or several-hundred dollar range, the performance gains are slighter, yet these things are unattainable at the lower and mid-grade of consumer electronics. Nowadays, with competitive third party manufacturing in producing outboard gear for our mobile devices, it's a global competition, and price points are pushed ever lower, for establishing consumer empathy and affections for the product offerings being more towards the mid-upper $50-$100 range, some things could peak over $100, for specialty purposes, while keeping most people happy, whereas people place value in their devices in a distributed manner, for having many hardware outboard options, in that people like the visual complexity of having achieved some notion of mastery over their toolset, for that there are many tools implemented, at hand. Just as the pro audio studios of former years would have an impressive deck, and outboard gear, on racks, networked servers, storage, monitors, speakers, etc.  

With the onset and coming of the age of IoT devices, in popularity, development Systems on Chips (and Modules) [SoCs, SoMs] becoming more diversely available, given industry specifications and specializations, and hardware telephony, broadcast, and receipt becoming more within reach, and within tolerance of the consumer, given latency and bandwidth | throughput considerations in WiFi and Bluetooth | broadband signals, such as 5G, as well as that 3D printers are signaling a Golden Age for design, in manufacturing, there is a significant push for consumer devices to depend upon outboard gear, with consumer affections for expanding upon personal and professional interests becoming commonplace, and novel, for that many compelling and attractive developments and devices come from third party manufacturers. Economic circumstances call for bootstrap startup ecology in becoming the defining purpose of many people's professional aspirations, amidst a time of job offering uncertainty and lackluster performance, and professional options being scarce, for the common person. Even gig jobs are difficult to procure, whereas craigslist had once been (yet, on one hand, still is, a standard stalwart of local gig job and one-off economy); Reverb, though, as I'd discovered, is a new craigslist (music gear and tech section), of sorts, for musicians and music retailers, for example. It'll be interesting to discover what outlets and offerings become popular in the multimedia outboard and web | app offerings in the various areas of specialization in e-commerce and in the manufacture of devices in the IoT establishment, in coming months and years.

California EDD (Employment Development Department) Suspended Claims Update: New Streamlined Claim Reopening Process Unveiled, for some Users.

Some claimants in California's Employment Development Department's Unemployment Insurance program are shown a new glimmer of hope in reopening their claim.

As an unemployment insurance claimant myself, whom was affected by the EDD Fraud taskforce suspension sweeps implemented just prior to the new year (2021), I can relate to the disappointment and distress that many other claimants in California faced, in the passing of the new year, from 2020, in to 2021. 

With the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Disaster of late winter 2019 and spring in 2020 having wrought widespread civic and economic consequences, many individuals eventually found greatly needed and much-appreciated solace from challenging conditions imposed upon us by the Coronavirus outbreak, subsequent civic decrees of social distancing, shutdowns, curfews, etc., in addition to yet more difficulties and challenges that we experienced, localized in several hotspots throughout the nation, as well as here, in Los Angeles, which saw particular challenges to an already-burdened public health department, social services, housing, law enforcement, and mental health services array of local government departments and organizations.

Following the coming of the new year, the notice of the suspension of many people's claims in Unemployment Insurance was delivered in our online UI inboxes, with Fraud and Identity Verification processes being necessarily verified, due to several flagging parameters of a user's account, such as multiple claims from within the same household address, questions about the legitimacy of certain claims, as well as the willingness of workers who had filed for unemployment to seek out employment, as they receive UI benefits being one of the determining factors in continuing benefits distribution to individuals; of the common procedure in how benefits are usually distributed. The COVID-19 crisis saw the EDD offer more lenient circumstances to unemployed beneficiaries, as far as seeking new work, as one of the circumstances that was stricken from the requirements, for the time being, for the sake of the difficulties imposed by the disaster. 

Apparently, some UI claimants will see a glimmer of hope, in reopening their cases. (I had particular difficulties in the former identity verification process that the EDD had deployed, as a solution for suspended claims, since I had recently lost my wallet and ID card, which was part of the process in reopening a suspended claim). This morning, I discovered a new message in UI Online, the Employment Development Department's Unemployment insurance online portal for certifying for claims, on a bi-weekly basis, as well as for managing communications, tax forms, payment information, and account history. 

The new, more streamlined process is less challenging (given my particular circumstances of having lost my ID card), and takes just a few minutes to complete. Some of the questions included in the claim reopening form ask about the claimant's most recent work history, information about their former employer, and any information about the claimant seeking job opportunities, job training, or education paths that would lead to employment, in the future. 

With claim reopening wait times having been projected as taking about a month, or more, I'm sure that the news of having our claims suspended was a quite challenging and disappointing occurrence to discover in our UI Online message inboxes. I'm not sure how widely implemented this new claim reopening process was distributed, amongst the user accounts who were included in the temporary claim suspension and ID verification process, but hopefully, this bump in the road, for some, will see things through to a timely and quicker resolution for their claim accounts. 

In lieu of receiving news of the claims being reopened, however, I would suggest that individuals still proceed with, and follow through on the identity verification process, through the provider website at ID.me. Individuals whose claims were suspended were given 10 days to verify their identity, or mail a letter requesting an extension for completing the identity verification process.

I don't care how you ended up becoming a bleeding-edge topic celebrity, of a grandiose ego and an eloquent charm, befitting of some "other place," where we're not, in general. Although if you're from somewhere else, that's kind of exotic, I suppose. Maybe I'm a fan, off-hand.

A lot of people in journalism and in the major press circuits 

have been expressing regrets over how 2020 played out. Well, perhaps it's not all that common, given the expanse of topics that have been making news, but it seems that it sticks out, for me, as a guy who is fraught with all sorts of problematic issues at hand. 

2020 was a good year, I say, however. 

I do some speculative fashion jaunts at stylization takes on imaginative persona, of a marketing sort. Persona marketing came in to my world, as a one-time (or sometimes) Facebook aficionado for the cultural offerings that, for me, the design, pop culture, and fashion world had been, for commiting my likes for the pages of topics, people, companies, etc., that I'd been fond of during my teen years, and throughout college (I'm 38 years old, now). My first, and memorable takeaway experience with persona marketing came from an article that I had "saved," rather than simply standard "liked" on Facebook. (It says that it was put out about a week ago, but I know that I had it saved, going on years, now. I'm sure that it was at some point during my multiple personality crisis, of early stages of schizophrenia, in which I'd set this article aside, for the sake of searching for some answers to what had been going on, and for trying to establish some likeness in others, from sources that were discoverable for me. 

Anyways, have a look at the article. Perhaps it's the same, or similar enough context that would remain true to how I had discovered it, on first reading. I found it very compelling and relatable. Before I move on, though, I ought to divulge that the schizophrenia issue has not appreciably subsided, for the most part, since that time, <_< supposing that it had been at some point between now and back up til' 2012, or so, when it had begun (I was a DSM-IV textbook standard onset of schizophrenia, at age 30).

Solved: how to get real-time bluetooth device audio monitoring on iPadOS | iOS | Android - the SabineTek S610 SmartMike+ bluetooth lavalier microphone.

Being that I  sometimes have the inclination to speak my thoughts out, freely, in public, 

I like to have audio monitoring going on, with a microphone and earphone | earbuds. 

Being that I have upgraded my tech to newer devices, the wired headset | earbuds paradigm is being deprecated, for the sake of adoption of wireless and bluetooth protocols for device audio outputs, rather than 3.5 mm (1/8 inch) TRRS (Tip Ring Ring Sleeve) - "headphone | mic" combos, such that we'd come to know and expect of our audio inputs and outputs for our mobile devices. In lieu of the deprecation of 3.5 mm audio jacks in devices, USB-C ports have taken the place of the former audio jack / port, and now, data, audio, and video information can be sent out, or received, in devices and in peripherals all through one high-speed port. There are many makes and models of USB-C [Thunderbolt] hubs available on internet retail sites, such as Amazon and Walmart.

One of the critical issues that had come up, in the context of Apple's device upgrades, over the past couple of years, or so, in this scope of audio jacks and inputs and outputs is that there's no official Apple USB-C earbuds headset available, and my personal favorite, the Apple in-ear headphones had been removed from the Apple main site (although I'd since discovered that other retailers, mostly academic institutions and universities, are now selling the in-ear headphones that Apple used to carry).

This notion reminds me of my "ceiling pigeons" motif, of when I left the door open, and left to camp out, for court, at my old Section 8 apartment off of Broadway (the original iPigeon.institute slight home exhibition).

The ceiling in my bathroom had caved in and crumbled, due to significant dampness that had built up, undoubtedly from some transient who had occupied my place for a good time, in the bathroom. I could see the rafters, and there were pigeon-ish crumbles and pigeon icon "bamms" of the drywall pieces, and I spotted some nuclear echo pigeon interlopers, up there, in the ceiling, peeking down at me. I caught it on video, as well, but this is the line art ink brush version.

How to: hand-crafting a Material Design icon.

Google's Material Design website is a rich resource, dedicated to functional and compelling web | app design. On the website, there is a tutorial detailing the construction of a hand-crafted paper-based Material Design icon; done so (with paper), for the purpose of creating true-to-life shading. 

The tutorial inspired me to create my own Material Design icon, based from my "pigeons and friends" repertoire of square-shaped iconic pigeons [and friends]. Here are the source images:

According to the material.io guidelines, the icon's design ought be uniform in stroke thickness, somewhat bold and simplistic.

I've got a challenge, at hand, therefore, n rendering and shaping the image that I end up choosing, for the icon, in that my illustrations are more gesturally-based and freehand, rather than designed and pixelated. I'm somewhat hoping to design with a future-forward eye to the project (if that makes any sense), in perhaps trying to keep detail that I might, for the sake of higher-resolution Dot Per Millimeter (DPM) schemes on devices that are newer and allow for on-screen zoom, for further clarity. Otherwise, I stand to compromise the decipherability of the icon for the end-user's sake of identifying and connecting to the icon. My goal, other than the material.io website's 24 x 24 pixel design basis (for system icon's), is a larger visual scope final purpose, such as placement and viewership established on mediums such as the Google Play Store and Apple's App Store.

Product Review: Trace Minerals Research Ionic Calcium 200 mg 2 fl. oz.

I commonly use ionic trace minerals for nutrition supplementation, as well as for experimentation with my biological projects (now on IoTpigeons.eco). Now, since I’ve been receiving Unemployment Insurance payments and Pandemic Unemployment Assistance Award money from the California Employment Development Department, I’ve been fortunate to be able to venture out beyond the general concentrated Utah Great Salt Lake sea water solutions, by Trace Minerals Research, and I’ve expanded my inquiry and experimentations in cellular regeneration, nerve, blood, and bone health, in to their single-element concentrates.

I decided to start a blog about it, and it’s called IoTpigeons.eco, forming from out of the iPigeon.institute brand, of my original pigeons blog. 

Every now and then, since late July, it’s been, I’ve gotten a well-with-all Umemployment Insurance and Pandemic Unemployment Assistance Award boon to my finances. It’s good money, coming from receiving General Relief ($221) and SNAP Food Stamps ($194) for years on end, now, leading up to this year, as my only source of income, aside from collecting recyclables for CA redemption money. The guys at the recycling places know me by name. It’s a friendly little establishment of reasonable gains, given adverse circumstances. If I collect glass bottles, as well, I consider it good work ethic. For that matter, I’ve gained 15 pounds, since I’ve come in to this extra Employment Development Department money, perhaps akin to the college “freshman 15,” as I reconcile the new-found luxuries and accountability inherent in receiving the Unemployment Insurance money, paying payroll tax, filing sales and use tax, and submitting quarterly personal income tax returns.

Getting ahead on my personal physical health endowment aspirations is something that I’m investing deeply upon in this span of time (the Unemployment Insurance money and COVID-19 pandemic era of 2020), and my latest favorite ionic mineral single-element concentrate is Trace Minerals Research Ionic Calcium. I’ve been fortunate to experience that with even as little as 4 droppers, I have noticed that my thinning teeth, from formerly smoking hard drugs, is winnowing its way back, in to thickening of the teeth, even after only a few days in, after sampling the product. Constructing Trap House Music - the bunchie. [resonance; sourcing audio samples; music production].

In the context of producing a quality audio sound design and music composition based on Trap House music, the percussive development and intelligence in placement and sequencing of a standard motivic idiom - based on what might appear to be seemingly simple, yet which the pros would attest to: a four-on-the-floor beat is one of the most difficult drum tracking and drum session gigs to play out. Not only is the beat quite obvious, and naked, in its simplicity, rendering mishaps and slip-ups most apparent and uncomforting, to the listener. It is a bold and challenging rhythm, requiring much timing, insightful progressive design, in choicing the splices of the beat, as it develops, and stands, on its own. Drums and bass are known as the backbone of a song. Moreover, the drums and the bass are aught to live off of each other, and for each other, oftentimes picking up slight syncopations and touches upon one another, as bass can also lead several lives; sometimes, a percussive element about it. 

Good and well-placed drums and percussive elements, within a track, are notoriously difficult to pull off, given stock virtual instrument patches on a beat-making sequencer machine, drum synth, etc. - in general. For one thing, drums and percussive elements are tunable instruments. A live percussive or drum set has some give to it, in that the live instrument can be malleable in its tuning, given the nuance of the performer and performance that is played out. Somewhat similarly, yet less organically, designed drum beats and sequences can be tuned, with individuality to the notes, when using MIDI, and, as well, in audio, although pitch-shifting or transposing audio supposes a bit more of destructive editing and computing resource. In addition, having to tune a drum sound individually is a very non-present tense mind-mode activity - I find that the creative process is easily abandoned, or that it becomes an ineffable debacle of becoming bored, or apathetic upon the subject, this being the creation of a fuckworthy track dance music piece.

The semiotics of bunchie are obvious, in common usage in higher analytical standard American English: its bunch, it’s an active, present-tense descriptor, it describes a subject, or topic - it’s easily adapted to the comically [attempt] insulting, yet for me, over a short while in tossing “bunchie” around, in my head, and that it had floated by others, in the confines of my mind, and here and there, I’d let it leak out that bunchie had been developing in other people’s | smells, etc., | eww, umm. BunchieApHff way off calibration meter, on this one. Take some care towards others; few things, at this point in time, are truly as hermitic as we might appreciate, given that “no man is an island” happened long ago, in literature, and we live in a techno trap house bwopp-down dance-off, at least sometimes, and it’s a hard to live down and abandon pop and electro scene musical form, and it gives rise to more advanced, more chill, more future, more fancy, through its simple and rudimentary primitivistic design and demand - a promise of a relentless four-on-the-floor bass kick, and a BPM that can be extensible, modular, and transient, and with mixtapes online being a significant distributor of musical supervisory taste and disposition on aesthetics and preference, a lot of ground can be covered, and trap house beats commonly set the feature of much of what I consider to be well supervised mixes. 

The bunchie, though, simple and dumb as it might seem, is actually a resonance freedom declaration, of a departure from octaves and A=440 Hz common and standard music theory: it is the sound of our anything; here, in my case, for my bunchie, I chose the bunchie of my recyclables-collection bag, with bunches of smushed plastic bottles, cans and glass in it, as I jogged down the beach boardwalk earlier this afternoon. It is the resonance of me, myself; I bunched up and smushed the cans and bottles, and the glass containers are made at a standard size that suits our Imperial system standards, our measures of our selves, as human form, and for that sake, there are elements of individuality, as well as community, within a bunchie bag of recyclables being jogged out, spliced up, and sampled, for bunchie scrum, of drum tracking in a basic trap house music beat, as the aspiration and inspiration towards a banger track.

In this framework of consideration of General Relief | welfare beneficiary phone service plans - and beyond, considering major service provider’s phone plans for the general public - this is truly unlimited data tethering for your base model iPadOS device (ostensibly from Target’s holiday sales (or otherwise). I simply imagine that somebody else could conceivably latch on to the same productivity-on-mobile model that I’ve gotten, with a SafeLink Wireless free subsidized phone service plan, with $5.78 - $25.00 data plans that can tether an iPad, iPhone, or Android mobile device with unlimited service throughout the extent of the data plan. 

Typical phone service providers charge an arm and a leg for service recharges, and from what I most commonly have seen, the most data tethering any major carrier has offered, up to this point in time (2019), is 10 GigaBytes per month, which, for data-intensive device users, could be used up in a matter of several days, on an iPad, or other tablet device. 

I suppose that the SafeLink Wireless data tethering plan could be allotted to a desktop or laptop, as well, although in truth, I’d have to say that the iPad is truly where it’s at, as far as investing your time and money in to a long-standing device á la mobility tech and lifestyle development “thing,” a tablet is much more fruitfully enjoyed than a small-screen device, and an iPad is the most fulfilling device implementation for taking in to consideration the most common and popular mobile device usage personas that I imagine most users take on, inasmuch, to consider that there’s all sorts of mobile device users.

Hopefully, if words on a device couldn’t sell you on heading over to the Department of Public and Social Services in your local neighborhood, the simple imperative I’m preaching of that being that SafeLink Wireless is free phone service, as well as true unlimited tethering, for up to the amount of data allotted to the phone service per month. I believe it used to be 5 GigaBytes, perhaps now 3 GigaBytes.

It turns out that the free wireless data tethering workaround option, detailed below, will apparently work with any Android device, which is very useful with prepaid plans such as Kroger Wireless, whom I’m currently with. They offer a 25 GB data plan for $45 a month. They’re currently also offering the Google Pixel 4a phone for $349. Not a bad deal.

now - for the über-data-intensive users who had been tethering data from their Android government subsidized phone service beneficiary “LifeLine” plan (such as SafeLink service), who now find themselves “locked out” of being able to tether any more data to their iPad device, after using up a HUGE 40 GigaByte data plan, over several days, for example, here’s the fix. Pay attention, because it’s going to come quickly and it’s only a few steps.

1. Download NetBridge - No root tethering on your Android source tethering device from the Google Play Store (or likewise, other SafeLink service-provided phone - they offer iPhones, also).

Actually, nix that, if you have an iPhone as your SafeLink device. The App Store doesn’t have a NetBridge ported app, yet. 

2. Once NetBridge downloads, open it up and turn on the tethering mode. It couldn’t be simpler, as an app interface - but, in addition, turn on Wi-Fi on both your source [check 1] Android device, and your [check 2] iPad. There’s no need, just yet, to configure the Wi-Fi parameters.

This one’s important! This is what your iPad’s Wi-Fi proxy and DNS server settings should look like when you configure the connection (last step).

3. Drag down from the top of your Android device, and swipe left. If you haven’t toyed around with this drop-down window previously, you’ll see the Hotspot activation icon. Press and hold it. When the tethering window comes up, turn on Bluetooth tethering only.

4. Now, for the Wi-Fi settings. On your source Android phone, no need to do anything with Wi-Fi, except have it turned on and scanning.

?????? [okay for Wi-Fi here, in this case, on your Android device]. The NetBridge connection requires that you have Wi-Fi scanning, but not connected through your Native Android interface.

On your iPad device, go in to your Wi-Fi settings, and configure from scratch (if needed), the Wi-Fi connection. (Add Wi-Fi connection). 

If you see the NetBridge tether Wi-Fi link in your available Wi-Fi networks, on your iPad Wi-Fi settings, (it (settings Wi-Fi available) acts as if you had turned on Wi-Fi tethering already), go ahead and connect to the NetBridge Wi-Fi connection. The NetBridge Wi-Fi connection will be named something similar to your Android device’s “Cast | mirror screen” setting to mirror an Android device’s screen to another host device. You can also change the name of this Direct Wi-Fi network in the Cast Screen Settings tab on your Android Device. 

5. 😅 I told you it’s simple stuff, right? But still, just a bit complicated, if you have no internet service on your mobile tech and lifestyle kit duo setup of an Android and iPadOS device internet service mainstays.

Okay.

The only thing left to do now, is configure the iPad’s direct Wi-Fi tethering settings to suit the settings offered in the Android device’s app’s instructions for you. I believe that the settings would be unique, compared from mine to yours, and I’m not really so fond of giving out my IP address information to an open public forum, for security reasons. 

But, to offer a nudge in the right direction, you’ll have to change the settings on the bottom two form fields of the iPad’s Wi-Fi connection settings (where you’re connected to the Android’s Wi-Fi advertised service). 

6. Done. That’s all.

The Beginner at IoT with the Google Coral Devices - a Blog Repo of Shortcomings, Mishaps, and Resolutions.

For beginners in to IoT Micro-computers and Systems-on-Chips (SoCs) and Systems on Modules (SoMs), 

It's compelling (within budget constraints) to spend some flex on the specs of the baseboard that would be the first (or second, or further) dive in to trying one's hand at Linux and Open Source development, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Data Science statistics and modeling. 

Given several months in to the hobby (or profession, that it could be, and is, for more established development and manufacturing firms), I've become more familiar with the various current popular devices out there, in the micro-computer "credit-card size," (give or take) field, from the various online retailers who serve the consumer and professional prototyping and  manufacturing niche tech economy. 

It's marketed as a booming industry to come, in the upcoming years, and I'm sure that the appeal of having a dedicated board and development model, for individuals, startups, research and development firms, and mechanical and electronics engineers, is a situably hot topic, as you might infer of me, recently. Perhaps someone you know, personally, has a similar hideaway pastime and hobby in IoT manufacturing aspirations. 

I picked out the Google Coral line for the sake of the fact that Google is known to produce quality services, docementation, and products, at global scale. With their Coral AIY line, they bring a facet of their Cloud Platform data centers and Content Delivery Networks to the home user, with a handful of various uses encapsulated within the primary grounding element of Tensor Processing Unit: Inferencing.

Product Review: Magenet Corkea 5Vx3A (15 watt) 13.3 inch portable monitor with mini HDMI, USB-C, and USB-C OTG x 2.

 For mobility tech purveyors purchasers of late-model laptops, such as myself, with my Gold 2020 Apple MacBook Air, the world of portable Thunderbolt 3 USB-C portable monitor additions is a vast online playground. During the recent Amazon Prime Day, internet retailers, in addition to Amazon, themselves, went all-out in a celebratory manner, for the consumer, as it turns out, in what ended up being a massive e-commerce blow-out event that suited the tastes of all manners of shopping fanatics, when store front retailers had been bought out, looted, and ransacked, due to COVID-19 and activist rioting, around town. 

I wanted a monitor that matched the size of my computer, and I wanted a similar pixel frame size, so that I could fit the device in to my backpack. There’s many variables involved in portable monitor Shopping, such as weight, device width behind the screen itself, color profile, connectivity features, etc. Throughout much browsing, for days on end, leading up to deciding upon this monitor, the Corkea 13.3 inch 2560 x 1440 2K IPS monitor, with mini HDMI and USB-C / Thunderbolt 3 connectivity on Amazon, for $159.99 ended up being the winning suitor, with me as a much-satisfied customer. 

The Apple MacBook Air (early 2020) features 2 Thunderbolt 3 USB-C ports, with support for its native display resolution of 2560 x 1600, in addition to up to 5K on external monitor(s) is for real: big-time display workspace extendable on the cheap, and it’s not much like the days of working with desktop computer monitors - big, bulky, and demanding upon live-work space real estate. Here, I set up my workspace for the night in a new spot in my room, in the corner, just to have an element of novelty new-ness to my working environment. 

Everything is modular, ephemeral, and ad hoc, in this mobility-centric lifestyle workspace assertion. The monitor itself is lightweight, even compared to the MacBook Air, itself. In a backpack, even one pound adds a lot of weight and muscular exertion to an outing. I made sure to compare the device weights on the external monitors I had to choose from, and I chose Amazon, over other internet retailers, such as Walmart.com and Google Shopping, for the simple matter of their prolific and daunting arrays of offerings and features. 

I’m willing to give newcomers and unknown brand names a chance, in my tech device procurements, on account of the fact that it’s a golden age for technology and manufacturing, and for that competition is fierce, whereas a resourceful manufacturer who presents themselves within the competitive ecology of internet retail space has probably stood the tests of enterprise startup infancy, and proven themselves for resilience well enough to make way for advertising and fulfillment space within Amazon’s internet retail ecology. 

I purchased this monitor, in addition to the fact of its compatibility with my MacBook Air, for my IoT edge computing projects, such as the Google Coral Dev Board, which I’m finding to be a much-riddling and arcane experience in bootstrapping the device. Should I port over to Raspberry Pi? I’m somewhat at odds with that notion, given that I feel that it’s simply a matter of getting the right documentation in front of me, paired with the right resources. In any case, I wanted the HDMI port compatibility that this monitor offers, with its mini-HDMI port, and the shipping box included the ported regular-to-mini HDMI cable with it, in addition to what seems like a valid Thunderbolt 3 cable, for power, a 5V x 3A AC power adapter, a 1-to-2 port USB-C to USB-3 female adaptors OTG cable, and a USB-3 to USB-C cable, for plenty of attachments. 

The monitor acts, somewhat, as a Thunderbolt 3 USB-C hub, for the computer, in that it has 2 USB-C OTG ports, for connecting other peripherals, such as storage, or keyboard and mouse. The monitor, once it’s plugged in, and suitably powered on, is capable of externally powering the laptop, through the laptop’s daisy chaining in connectivity to the powered monitor. Alternately, the laptop can power the monitor, drawing energy from the computer, if needed, in a pinch. The monitor draws up to 45 watts of power, I believe, as it’s built with Thunderbolt 3 USB-C capable ports, which the cable and port protocol is known, in the realm of laptop device hubs, batteries, and power adaptors, for example, to pull up to 100 watts of electricity, for all of the devices connected. From dealing with voltage and amperage of smaller devices, adaptors, and external battery devices frequently, that much wattage is a mind-boggling amount of energy to command use of, in a device on-site setup environment, yet the MacBook Air 2020 laptop computer does it in fine form, with the Magenet Corkea 2K 13.3 inch IPS monitor coming through in brilliant resolution and clarity. 

In fact, the Corkea external monitor is capable of delivering much brighter colors and tones than the native Apple MacBook Air monitor. Here’s the Corkea external monitor in HDR mode, and side-by-side with the MacBook Air monitor. This feature disables the user-defined brightness, contrast, and color leveling options of the monitor. 

I’m supposing that this is as bright as it can get. For that matter, the MacBook Air is set to its brightest levels, although, to be fair, the macOS Accessibility options, in System Preferences, allows for single color “Color Filters” to be applied over the display’s output, which can significantly alter the brightness and tonal warmth of the monitor’s output. All this being the case, I commonly do my on-device development and productivity work at night, and in the dark, so I don’t turn the brightness all the way up, anyhow. 

For the price that it’s been offered at on Amazon, I’d venture to say that this is one of the best upgrades for the MacBook Air, as a perhaps little-known and oft-overlooked feature to take advantage of, given the MacBook Air’s native hardware capabilities - in this case, the graphics card GPU is the Intel Iris Plus Graphics card with 1536 MB of VRAM. That means that the GPU can muster the worth of about a third of an entire DVD-R 720P video, from back in optical device drive days - all at once. 

For most every day and typical uses, having an extra external monitor is a significantly handy feature, and it allows the user experience profile to be alternate from the standard on-device navigation and input profile of having everything in front of the user, which helps out, when it comes to lounging and sprawling out with the tech mobility lifestyle setup on the floor, for the sake of a uber-customizable, comfortably suitable posture and body aesthetic set of options. 

Product Review: Choetech mini portable fan with mister.

 Anyone who works with tech in small spaces knows how hot it gets, sometimes. Even the smallest of fans provides some decent relief from overheating, and circulated air is better for us, in our working spaces. I recently went on a vast spending spree, online, and discovered this little gem of the internet. 

The Choetech mini portable fan, with a built-in 2,000 mAh USB-powered battery, with water vapor mister is a neat little device that packs enough air circulatory power to cool off a small personal workspace environment, and, of course, the option to add aromatherapy scents and oils is always available. As an added bonus, the device has a color-changing LED light at the bottom, to spark up some nighttime work shift ambiance. 

The fan itself is reasonably quiet, and I was big on having a 300 mL water tank for the fan’s mister, so that I could customize an ionic mineral spray and fragrance combination.

I’d been fortunate in having been a recipient of Unemployment Insurance money and Pandemic and Disaster Award Money, for having been affected directly by the COVID-19 disaster. My latest procurement is the Apple Watch. I’m interested in its platform basis in that it’s marketed as a tool for communications, but more so compellingly, for me, at this point in time, of that it’s an Apple device that’s concerned with the users’ health and well-being. 

And then, if you’d ever been in to working aspirations in to developing on IoT devices (bare chip boards, with embedded circuitry and processing microcontrollers), then you know how the nights on end can be relentless endeavors of discovering and perusing internet literature and forums for a glimmer of hope, short of being reportedly well-dialed in and having successfully SSH’d or provisioned the hardware and accessories appropriately, attained a fully autonomous Internet of Things microcontroller project, co-processor project, Machine Learning, prototype, or embedded device. 

My current “Things” are a mix mash of trying to maintain finery, amidst the shortcomings of small enterprise, in a world of just-burgeoning documentation, coverage, and marketing of a platform-profiteering move in and on topic of the Google Coral platform, which is the current IoT | AIY platform that I’m (trying) to successfully get up and running. What’s in the works for the new Apple ARM devices? Microsoft already has a deployed alternative.

 There’s a bunch of uproar about Apple Computer transitioning over to their in-house designed ARM processors. There’s a lot to love about the embedded solid-state processing power of the ARM pedigree. With no moving parts to the CPU and embedded GPU co-processors, the ARM archetype is a powerful workhorse machine of lesser wattage needs and extensible flex in the turbo-boosting mode. 

For example, my MacBook Air is sweltering in my hot summer bedroom on the second floor. Comparatively, my iPad Pro, powered by Apple’s variant and subsidized technology built upon ARM technologies is powering through the heatwave, with no fans to the device, at all. It simply runs and does its job to absolution, except when I put it back in its box to do a resonance experiment, the other night, while running iSweep. It overheated and shut the process down, and I took it out of the box, and it was hot. The display parameters of the operating system went in to a dimming “recovery mode,” for a while, which the device seems to have recovered from. 

On the far-reaching outskirts of news-making tech stories, though, Microsoft has emerged as a seeded marvel of manufacturing, in terms of some quick moves, and (seemingly) largely undiscovered territory. As for myself, in discovering this gem of development produce of the tech world, I have a ceded debt to pay to Microsoft, as a former software pirate professional (on craigslist, from 2006-2012, or so). I decided that I needed a CAD | CAM workhorse machine, whereas my Mac and Apple devices would be suitably for “Apple” types of “stuff,” imaginably, of things that I commonly do and would commonly imagine are typical tasks of the Apple Computer, Inc., device world. 

So I checked out Microsoft Stores online. It turns out that they’re all closed, and their online marketplace is full of rich professionalism world of tech articles and product marketing; stuff like that. I did a night and morning of a marketing persona: Jacques Le Coctard. He embellished upon cocktardedness, in to the “essential” shitlessburger, which I was sure I was going to go out and wagon cart the shitlessburger heraldry, as the latest marketing slew of the iPigeon enterprise. That was just me, for a night. Somebody talked me down, from actually doing it, though. 

I figured, alright, their stores are closed, there’s Best Buy, and I was fairly set on purchasing the Surface book 3, a Windows complementary device to my ultra-mobility slim-and-latest model “thing” I have going on, right now, with my MacBook Air, iPad Pro duo, of the moment. I wanted a workhorse equivalent machine that was fair in considering my former transgressions against Microsoft, the organization and company. 

While deliberating between various options offered on the Microsoft website, I discovered that their Surface Pro X device has, in fact, ARM-powered processors, produced in partnership with Qualcomm, which are dubbed the Microsoft SQ1 and SQ2 processors. As it turns out, the processing power of these embedded chips are quite good, clocking in at 3.0 GHz (I believe, off-hand), with graphics processors built in, as well, with record benchmarks to their credit. 

Keeping up with news releases and marketing emails from Microsoft, they’re working diligently to iron out the virtualization and just-in-time (JIT) processor coding side-load bloat of instruction sets and all else of what-not goes in to porting over from a completely separate and distinctive CPU development pedigree, which was an issue in determining just which Surface device I was going to purchase (perhaps?… I wonder?). Maybe not perhaps. Maybe the production and development pros will work out a solution that works with the onslaught of techie-unemployment beneficiaries set out for a series of technology mobility device purchases, of a can’t wait, can-haz, and it’s covered, in full, by the Employment Development Department, and Los Angeles is where we grew up (or ended up), and there’s like, millions of us, (or something). Maybe not all techie mobility types, but if you’re not purchasing a device, then man... that embolism fart bubble up in the neck thing. It gets rough, sometimes. 

The 90071 | 90017 [U.S. ZIP Code] watershed fly (video blog).

The watershed area and surrounding sloping and terraced locales, architectural developments, and ins-and-outroads of the ZIP code locations 90071 and 90017 feature a rare flying insect critter; the watershed fly. This creature is borne out from luxury, with a silver spoon, in the mouth; so to speak. It's a much gentler « feeling » fly creature when it lands on bare skin, and it's notably self-aware of its non-offense to the observer and discoverer of this emerging unicorn of genetic modification. I've witnessed this special fly, in various formative selves; and previous ones had been more attractive than this one, for certain. This one is somewhat a tropical beach-faring sun-bather, and the creature came and said hello, up at the top of the U.S. Bank Tower's terraced enclaves, across from the DTLA Central Library. Undoubtedly, the ionization and resonance created by the nearby Maguire Gardens and boring drill machinery from the Metro development project provide significant influence over the genetics of some of these fly insect pompadours, given ideal conditions.
